2nd Danone Benelux Probiotics Convention
Invitation 12 November 2010
From proven science to applicable practice
Health takes a central place in Danone’s strategy, closely locked in with its history and brands. At the start in 1919, Danone yoghurt was sold exclusively by pharmacies. It was the product of the research by Nobel medicine laureate Elie Metchnikoff into lactic fermentation benefits (1908) and the subsequent work of Doctor Isaac Carasso. Since then Danone has built its global experience in probiotics.
Within Danone Research Centre – Daniel Carasso in France - more than 600 people work on over 3,500 different bacteria. The research is carried out in close co-operation and permanent dialogue with international experts, specialized laboratories, leading scientific institutions and the universities of many countries.
Gut health and the role of probiotics in it is a major focus of Danone’s research. In 2006, Danone organized the 1st Danone Benelux Probiotics Convention in Belgium. In the years that have followed, new research has provided us with many other very interesting insights in the effect of probiotics on health. Therefore, Danone is inviting specialists for an update on recent probiotics research and to take the next step – from science towards practice.
The objective of this 2nd Danone Benelux Probiotics Convention is to bring together major experts in probiotics, to gather current knowledge in this area and, moreover, to open the dialogue.
